Q. What forms of payment do you accept?
A. We accept payment by check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, AMEX and PayPal. (Send payments to paypal@macserve.net)
Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free and secure!

Q. If I register my own domain, what DNS servers for MacServe.net should I use?
A. Please use the following:
ns1.macserve.net - 216.52.182.70
ns3.macserve.net - 204.89.131.160
and then please note that you have done so in the comments section of the signup form.

Q. Can I change the features on my hosting package?
A. Yes, you can. But only in the addition of items. You can't remove features from a plan to get a lower price. The Professional/Single User plan is the base plan. If $100/year is not affordable enough, then we are sorry we can't be of service.

Q. What do the statistics look like for the Level 2 and above accounts?
A. We use a program called Summary to process our logs and provides stats for the past years worth of activity. The stats for the MacServe.net site are here as an example.
We also provide some real time stats for our customers. This link is provided when signing up.

Q. We use a Windows PC, do you support connections for us?
A. Of course. We support connections to our servers for our customer using standard FTP. We have found WS_FTP to be a competent FTP client.

Q. Where do the names of the servers come from?
A. Our general naming scheme is primarily based on those individuals featured in the Think Different ad campaign by Apple, but was expanded to cover other influential historical figures. Example, we have a server named Woz and another named Galileo.

Q. Where do the names of the shared folders come from?
A. The names of our customer aggregation directories come from the names of
U.S. Navy Carriers.

Q. What can I do to alleviate the amount of SPAM I receive?
A. You can do any combination of the following:

Q. Is there a bandwidth limit? I don't anticipate high traffic
A. We don't impose any hard quotas on our client's sites, but we do keep an eye on our servers and if we see an inordinate amount of traffic coming from a site on a consisitent basis, we will work with that client to place them into the package that best fits their needs and keeps everyone happy.
Having said that, when pressed for a specific number, we quote 2GB of bandwidth per month for our Level 1 package.
