Outlook Express v4, 5 & 6 (PC) - Account Setup


If you're having difficulty setting up your email account with Outlook Express, follow these instructions:


*Screenshots are for Outlook Express 6 but versions 4 & 5 can be setup using the same directions.*

From the Tools menu select Accounts...

This will bring up the following window:

Click on the Add and select Mail.... You will see the following:

Enter the name you wish to have displayed on emails that you send and click Next.

Now enter your E-mail address which should look like username@yourdomain.com. Click Next to continue.

Select POP3 from the drop down menu and then fill in the following information:

Incoming mail (POP3) Your POP3 server is mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP) Your SMTP Server is mail.yourdomain.com

Click Next when done to continue.

Fill in the following information:

Account name Your POP3 Account ID is username@yourdomain.com
Password Your password is personally given to you

Make sure the box next to Log on using Secure Password Authentication is unchecked and then click Next to continue.

Select the email account you just set up and click Properties.

Select the Servers tab. All the information should be entered from the earlier steps.

Check My server requires authentication and then click the Settings... button to the right of the text.

The following window pops up:

Confirm that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected and click OK

Click on the Advanced tab.

Change the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Port Number from 25 to 587.

Click on the OK button to save these settings. You can now send and receive email with your MacServe.net account.
